    Why Attend?

    Full Overview

The largest urban transformation of the 21st century is taking place in India; the country’s cities have become a magnet for those seeking opportunities and employment, and rapidly increasing populations are putting a growing strain on infrastructure. In the wake of the pandemic, there is mounting pressure to accelerate plans to upgrade mobility and energy systems and remodel other municipal services in order to alleviate the constraints that inadequate foundations are placing on economic recovery and growth.

As initiatives focus on modernising and expanding infrastructure, the lack of integration and coordination between urban assets is a major barrier that needs to be overcome. Digital technologies, including IoT and data analytics, and innovative ideas, such as the smart campus concept, are critical to creating connected infrastructure which is robust and agile enough to support equitable development as well as achieve low-carbon goals.

The Future Cities Briefing: India in Focus, organised by the Financial Times in partnership with Siemens, is a high-level gathering of policy-makers, business leaders, investors and innovators and is the latest in a series of international briefings which lead to Dubai Expo in October. This online meeting will consider how to strengthen and develop core infrastructure in a way that will set the standard for successful urbanisation, boost the country’s competitiveness and sustainably meet the needs of citizens in the decades ahead.
